Glenn Gould

Πολλές φορές αναπτύσσουμε ιδιαίτερες σχέσεις με τα έπιπλα που μας περιβάλλουν και σίγουρα οι περισσότεροι έχουμε μία αγαπημένη καρέκλα στην οποία ανυπομονούμε να καθίσουμε στο τέλος μιας κουραστικής ημέρας.

Υπάρχει όμως και η ξεχωριστή περίπτωση του σπουδαίου Glenn Gould…

Ο Glenn Gould (1932-1982) ήταν ένας από τους σπουδαιότερους βιρτουόζους πιανίστες του 20ου αιώνα, γνωστός τόσο για τις ανεπανάληπτες ερμηνείες των έργων του J.S. Bach όσο και για τις εκκεντρικότητές του.

One of his eccentricities involved his relationship with a chair that his father had built for young Glenn to accommodate his playing style.

The chair accompanied Glenn Gould in every recital and every studio recording, and in the rare case that the chair was absent he simply refused to play the piano.

The chair is so closely identified with him that it is now on public display in a glass case at the National Library of Canada.
